Lutheran School of Theology
Copenhagen Lutheran School of Theology (CLST) was founded in 1972. It is a free, independent institution for theological research and teaching at university level.

CLST offers courses for all those preparing to become ministers, missionaries or evangelists, but it is specifically aimed at undergraduate and graduate students of theology enrolled at the University of Copenhagen . We seek to provide teaching which is faithful to the Bible and the historic lutheran confessions of faith.

Teaching is offered at an academic level in the widest possible range of theological disciplines as an alternative or a supplement to the courses offered by the university. CLST cannot as yet award degress, but through courses and other activities CLST desires to be of spiritual and theological help to its students.

The aims of CLST are

• to promote preaching, teaching and mission which are faithful to the Bible
• to prepare students for Christian service at home and abroad and to provide further training
• to awaken and maintain a life of faith and to strengthen Christian fellowship among the students

CLST is based on

• a clear confession that the whole Bible is the inspired and inerrant Word of God
• Scripture's prophetic and apostolic testimony to Christ and the view of Scripture which Jesus and the apostles had, and which is expressed in the biblical writings themselves
• the understanding of the Bible which is expressed in the Confessions adhered to by the Danish Evangelical Lutheran Church

CLST seeks to fulfill its aims through teaching, courses and guest lectures and also offers students private carrels in reading rooms. Students have access to a library with more than 15,000 volumes offering a wide range of conservative and critical literature in the various theological disciplines. Daily devotional times and weekly prayer groups are also part of the study envirment. In accordance with the educational tradition in Denmark, students do not have to pay for courses. Financially CLST depends entirely on private donations.

At present, there are five theological full-time lecturers in the subjects Old Testament, New Testament, History of Theology and Dogmatics, Ethics and Philosophy of Religion, as well as some part-time lectures. CLST is working towards becoming a fully developed school of theology which can hold its own examinations and award degrees in theology at Bachelor and Master level.
